2012 Mentorship Program
Want to learn how to keep bees? Now that summer has finally arrived in the Valley, the Cowichan Beekeepers mentorship program is gearing up again. Get hands-on experience as you visit different members' colonies to discuss the hive maintenance needs at each mentorship meeting.
Open to members of the Cowichan Beekeepers for just $50 per person, or $75 per couple, learn the basics of beekeeping, from installing a package or nuc (and learn what those terms mean!) to keeping your bees healthy, from honey extraction to over-wintering procedures. This year's mentor guide is Steve Mitchell, owner of Bee Haven Farms in Duncan, and instructor for the introductory beekeeping course offered through the Vancouver Island University.
